Carbondale Warming Center recipient is located in Carbondale, IL
Seeing a gap in the services available for our region’s homeless community’s basic needs, especially during the colder winter months. A committee from all ends of the community came together to fill the need.
In the winter of 2018 the Warming Center established its own worksite and provide hundreds of night stays for those who had nowhere else to go. Fast forward to the present day, the Carbondale Warming Center has gone from serving an average of 9 people a night to no less than 24 men, women, and on a number of occasions entire families as well.
Their community goals align with that of the Great Expectations Foundation.
Great Expectations Foundation rewarded them with a $1,000 grant to support the purchase of kitchen supplies such as plates, cups, and silverware.
